American science fiction writer

Timothy Zahn was born on September 1, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, USA. Since childhood he was interested in science. In 1975, he received his master’s degree in physics from the University of Illinois. But Timothy Zahn didn’t succeed in his scientific career. Because of the death of his supervisor he never finished his doctoral work.

In parallel with his scientific activities, he was fond of writing science fiction, dedicating his free time to it. In 1978, he sold his first work.

He became most popular after the release of the “Thrawn” trilogy (1991 – 1993, Star Wars Expanded Universe)

Timothy Zahn is currently the author of more than 40 novels (more than a quarter of which were written for a Star Wars universe)
